During December 2006 Combico UK were looking to enhance their existing TESSERACT service systems. The drivers for this being the requirement to increase the functionality of the services system along with a reduction in costs.

After a brief meeting in early December it was decided to replace the TESSERACT system with OpenACE.  OpenACE was acquired with the primary function of controlling an expanded service operation and the associated stock control requirement. Combico have a specific requirement to monitor and alert the usage of water filters which are installed with their ovens. OpenACE already has the ability to record, charge and alert on meter readings. Therefore this function was modified to support the water filter function. This minor enhancement was installed along with the initial OpenACE in early 2007.

Not long after OpenACE was installed Combico's business model began to change very rapidly when it was decided that Combico would take on the UK supply of spares and consumables for the Rational range of combination Ovens. Fortunately for them, the recently installed OpenACE had full warehouse support, Sales order and Purchase order functionality. So, rather than having to acquire a new system to support their warehouse, Combico simply began to use the full capabilities of OpenACE.

OpenACE is now the primary business application in use by Combico and it's use has been and will continue to make a significant contribution to the efficient operation and expansion of Combico's business.

"Support of the product and our business has been second to none, I could not have asked for or expected more from a supplier"
Steve Weston, MD, Combico Uk

During 2005 Allways Forktruck Services Ltd began their search for a Service Management system that would control both their service and maintenance operation but also control the process involved with the Hiring side of their Forktruck business.

What follows was written by Allways Forktruck Services Ltd:-

"We were looking for a service management package to control scheduled and breakdown calls to our fleet of 150 forklift trucks and to our customers own machines, we also required a hire package to generate and control our short and long term hire contracts.

We were impressed by OpenACE as service management tool and its stock control with multiple locations, but it did not have a hire package. OpenACE (Nick) said "we can do that" and after consultation a hire package was developed to suit our existing work practice, with the ability to search the data held on every truck to find the right equipment for our customer.

We use OpenACE to control the hire and maintenance of our fleet and the service and inspection contracts for our customers' material handling equipment. We chose Anjec because they are able to work with us to develop OpenACE to make it fit our company they are not a "this is what it is!" company but are willing to listen to our requirements and offer solutions, we talk to the same people when we call and they understand our business."

In 2004 Northampton Communications had achieved ISO accreditation. However their existing Service Management system was becoming unsupportable due to issues with the original author/vendor. Therefore to maintain their high standards of operation and their ISO accreditation the situation needed to be rectified.

The management of Northampton Communications were reticent about entering into an arrangement with another software supplier after the issues surrounding their previous vendor.

However, agreement was reached with Northampton Communications on both a commercial and technical level. This enabled the installation of OpenACE. OpenACE is now the core of Northampton Communications operations. The relationship between two companies can be characterised by being relaxed yet professional which allows both sides to extract the best from the relationship.

Northampton Communications also had a number of requirements that were over and above the standard OpenACEfunctionality. These included a plant number automatic generation routine to allow unique references to be applied to equipment. (Each item of equipment has a manufacturer serial number and then Northampton Communications applied plant number). Also the depot facilities were upgraded to allow for a Site to also be a depot location and therefore allowing stock transfers to be achieved automatically.

"All I can say is excellent"
Bob Davies, Northampton Communications.
